Born on Macharia, home of the venerated Saint Macharius, Litany Emiline was raised in the Emperor's beneficent light. A child of the Schola Progenium who delighted to call Macharia home, Litany served the city-sized cathedrals of the Adeptus Ministorum. Her world was known, and it was good; to serve was happiness. Life was simple as it was blissful, sheltered by the Imperial Cult as she was. But things would not remain simple for long.
Litany's nascent power was first noted in her early teens after a close call with a ground car that should have killed her outright. Such a narrow escape was gifted to the Emperor's will and celebrated. Everything was different from thereon. Accidents were gracefully sidestepped, games of strategy and skill, of which Litany had shown no aptitude, were mastered. It was as if she could see the moves of her opponents before they acted. Litany laughed off the comments and said she was lucky. But it didn't take long for those around her to view her luck through a nefarious lens.
Accusations of Witch followed in hushed whispers; dangerous in a society that praised vigilance and paranoia. Litany knew the rumors to be false and brushed them aside. She praised His name and worshiped the tenants of the Imperial Truth; how could she be warp-touched? Friends distanced themselves and the accusations gained volume, eventually to reach sensitive ears.
Litany vanished one evening and Macharia never saw her again. The girl and the rumors faded from memory. Claimed by the Black Ships, her lot in life was cast. Some reacted poorly to the revelation that they were warp-touched, but not Litany. Pious to the marrow, she believed her affliction a gift from the Emperor.
Litany was judged possessing a character and fortitude to be more than soul-fodder for the Astronomican. She would be a honed instrument of His divine will. Litany's gifts of foresight were enough to garner the attention of the Inquisition and she has served ever since.
